SURAT, GUJARAT — Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has expressed strong confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) continued dominance in Gujarat, as local body elections are scheduled to take place on April 26. He also made remarks on elections in other states and criticised recent comments made by the Congress leadership.
Speaking in Surat, Mandaviya said that the BJP has consistently received strong support from the people of Gujarat over the past 30 years, both in state-level elections and in local governance bodies. He stated that this long-standing support reflects the trust people have in the party’s leadership and governance model.
He expressed optimism that the BJP will once again secure victory in the upcoming elections, adding that the party is likely to continue governing across municipal corporations, taluka panchayats, and district panchayats in the state. According to him, this confidence comes from the party’s track record and its connection with the people.
Mandaviya emphasised that for the BJP, political power is not an end in itself but a means to serve society and the public. He said that the party’s focus has always been on development, welfare, and improving the quality of life for citizens. He added that governance should be centred on public service rather than political gain.
The Union Minister also highlighted that Gujarat has witnessed significant development over the years, which he attributed to stable governance and consistent policies. He said that such development has strengthened the bond between the BJP and the people of the state.
Apart from Gujarat, Mandaviya also spoke about elections in other regions, including West Bengal. He expressed confidence that the BJP will perform strongly and form governments in states such as Assam, Puducherry, and West Bengal. According to him, the party’s growing presence across different parts of the country reflects increasing public support.
He stated that the BJP’s expansion is driven by its focus on development, transparency, and good governance, which resonates with voters across states. He added that people are looking for leadership that delivers results and works for the nation’s progress.
Commenting on a recent development involving the Election Commission issuing a notice to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Mandaviya criticised the Congress party for making what he described as derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said that such comments are disgraceful and reflect the mindset of the Congress party, adding that political discourse should be conducted with dignity and respect. According to him, personal attacks do not contribute to healthy democratic debate.
Mandaviya stressed that leaders should focus on policies, governance, and public welfare rather than engaging in negative or personal criticism. He said that maintaining respectful communication is important for the functioning of a strong democracy.
He also pointed out that the BJP has consistently focused on positive campaigning and highlighting its achievements, rather than attacking opponents personally. He urged other parties to adopt a similar approach for the benefit of democratic values.
