Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a series of measures aimed at tackling paper leak cases, stating that the government is committed to ensuring strict action against those responsible while protecting the interests of students.
In a video message, the Prime Minister said that the government has already taken significant action following the recent paper leak incident, with the accused arrested and currently in judicial custody. He also assured that a new Bill proposing fast-track courts and stricter punishments for offenders would be introduced in Parliament at the earliest.
Prime Minister Modi said paper leaks are a serious issue that affects the future of lakhs of students and causes immense distress to candidates and their families.
He emphasized that ensuring fairness and transparency in examinations remains a priority for the government and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the examination system.
According to the Prime Minister, prompt legal action has already been taken against those allegedly involved in the recent paper leak case.The Prime Minister said the government’s foremost responsibility after the incident was to ensure that students did not lose an academic year.
He noted that efforts were made to conduct examinations at the earliest while maintaining the integrity of the examination process.The objective, he said, was to minimize disruption to students’ education while ensuring that the examination system remained fair and credible.
Prime Minister Modi revealed that he had directed the concerned departments to prepare a proposal for setting up fast-track courts to handle paper leak cases. According to him, officials worked continuously to prepare the draft proposal, which was submitted for review.
The proposed legislation includes provisions for:
- Establishment of fast-track courts.
- Stricter legal action against offenders.
- Enhanced punishments for those involved in examination fraud.
The draft was scheduled to be discussed by the Union Cabinet before being finalized.
The Prime Minister said the government would make every effort to secure the early passage of the proposed legislation during the ongoing session of Parliament. He stated that after incorporating suggestions from Cabinet colleagues, the Bill would be finalized and introduced in the House as soon as possible. The proposed law is expected to strengthen the legal framework for addressing examination-related malpractices.
Paper leak incidents can undermine the credibility of recruitment and entrance examinations while creating uncertainty for students and job aspirants.
