High-Level Security Review in Jamnagar: Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi Oversees Preparations for PM Modi’s Visit

Date:

JAMNAGAR, GUJARAT — In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Gujarat, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi chaired a comprehensive high-level review meeting at the Collectorate office in Jamnagar. The meeting was focused on finalizing security protocols, logistical arrangements, and public safety measures to ensure the smooth execution of the Prime Minister’s scheduled programs in the region.

Prime Minister Modi is expected to arrive in Jamnagar on Sunday, May 10, 2026, as part of a significant two-day tour of the state. Following his arrival, he is slated to participate in the prestigious ‘Somnath Amrut Mahotsav’ and various development projects across Gujarat.

Detailed Inspection at Lal Bangla Circle

Following the administrative briefing, Deputy CM Sanghavi conducted a ground-level inspection at the Lal Bangla Circle. This location is expected to be a focal point for public gatherings and the Prime Minister’s movement within the city.

During the site visit, Sanghavi instructed officials to prioritize:

  • Crowd Management: Ensuring specialized zones for the public to prevent congestion.
  • Traffic Regulation: Minimizing disruption to local commuters while maintaining a secure “Green Corridor” for the VVIP convoy.
  • Infrastructure Readiness: Verification of barricading, stage stability, and emergency medical stations.

Security Apparatus and Inter-Departmental Coordination

The review meeting held at the Jamnagar Collectorate saw the participation of senior police officials, district administration heads, and representatives from the Special Protection Group (SPG). Discussions centered on a multi-layered security ring covering the helipad, the travel routes, and the event venues.

Officials have been directed to maintain a 24/7 vigil. Advanced surveillance, including drone monitoring and CCTV integration, will be utilized to oversee the Lal Bangla area and surrounding sectors. The Deputy CM emphasized the need for a “zero-error” policy regarding security drills and emergency response times.

A Packed Schedule for PM Modi

The Prime Minister’s visit to Jamnagar serves as the gateway to a series of culturally and economically significant events:

  1. Somnath Amrut Mahotsav: On May 11, the PM will travel from Jamnagar to the Somnath Temple to mark the 75th anniversary of the shrine’s restoration. He is expected to participate in the Vishesh Maha Puja and release a commemorative stamp and coin.
  2. Infrastructure Dedications: The tour also includes the inauguration of the Sardardham Hostel in Vadodara, a project aimed at providing state-of-the-art residential facilities for students.
  3. Public Addresses: The PM is scheduled to interact with the people of Gujarat, highlighting the progress of various central and state-sponsored welfare schemes.

Impact on Jamnagar

The local administration has been working tirelessly to beautify the city and repair major arterial roads ahead of the visit. For Jamnagar, the visit is seen not just as a political event but as a moment of pride, as the city serves as the primary host for the Prime Minister’s overnight stay.

Residents have been advised to follow the updated traffic advisories issued by the Jamnagar Police to avoid delays. With the Deputy CM personally overseeing the final countdown, the city appears fully prepared to host the Prime Minister for what promises to be a landmark visit for the Saurashtra region.
